These fun and original assemblies have been designed aid children in developing their skills of: Compassion Honesty Resilience Humility Celebrating differences Thankfulness Patience Peace Creativity All of the assemblies are tried and tested, and each has been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. For example, there are references to scenarios and dilemmas that they themselves might find themselves in, in order to help them to make the right choices in their own lives. There are also fun role-play activities, beautiful, thought-provoking videos exemplifying each theme, and various discussion activities regarding how to show the skills in different areas of their own lives. No further resources are required, everything that you need to present the assemblies is included. Each set of slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes for each assembly to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

Throughout this series of lessons, children are given a broad introduction to Buddhism, through a range of engaging and informative lessons. The following double-length (approx 60-90 mins) lessons are included: -Lesson 1: The Story of Siddhartha Gautama -Lesson 2: Suffering -Lesson 3: The Noble Eightfold Path -Lesson 4: Buddhist Stories Each lesson contains a colourful, comprehensive Powerpoint to guide teachers and children through the activities and learning. I originally used these lessons with lower KS2 children, but feel that they can also be easily adapted for children who are slightly older.

This engaging and original assembly/ collective worship session aims to provide children with an understanding of the Saint Peter, particularly focusing on his him denying being an acquaintance of Jesus. It was originally delivered as the third in a series of three collective worship sessions on Saint Peter. The aims of the session are to consider: -The events of the Resurrection and Peter’s Restoration; -Peter’s role in spreading Christianity; -Lessons that we can apply to our own lives. The colourful and comprehensive presentation guides the worship leader and the children through the following journey: -Recalling prior knowledge about Saint Peter and establishing the basic information about who he was/ what he is known for; -Recalling how Peter had denied his acquaintance with Jesus; -Watching and comprehending an engaging, age-appropriate video (hyperlinked) which details Jesus’ resurrection and appearance to Peter; -Considering how Peter worked to redeem himself after Jesus had ascended to heaven; -Reflecting on our own spirituality - thinking about times when we let people down - how can we redeem ourselves? -Participating in related song and prayer. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. If everything is kept in, it takes around 30 minutes to deliver, but you may choose to edit or amend some elements of the session. This fun and original collective worship session aims to assist children in understanding the value of showing forgiveness, through: Understanding what forgiveness is, and recognising why it is important; Understanding what the bible teaches us about forgiveness, and learning about how Jesus demonstrated forgiveness; Looking at examples of times when they may need to forgive others or seek forgiveness, through stories and scenarios; Learning strategies to demonstrate forgiveness in their own lives. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. For example, there are references to scenarios and dilemmas that they themselves might find themselves in (for example how they might act during and after conflicts) in order to help them to make the right choices in their own lives. The session also includes an enduring real-life story of Nelson Mandela’s forgiveness of others, an engaging video depicting the bible story of how Jesus forgave Peter, and various discussion activities regarding how to show forgiveness in different areas of their own lives. No further resources are required, everything that you need to present the assembly is included. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included two pages of notes to assist the speaker. This fun and original collective worship aids children in understanding the value of wisdom. It was delivered as the first in a series of three worship sessions on wisdom (available as a Bundle) although it works equally as well as a standalone session. In this session, a particular focus is placed on defining wisdom and understanding that wisdom sometimes means seeking support from others, to help us to make wise choices. This is achieved through: -Defining wisdom and thinking about how we can show the characteristics of being wise; -Identifying times in which we might need to seek support; -Reading and understanding a child-friendly reading of 1 Kings 3:3–15; 2 Chronicles 1:1–13 in which KIng Solomon asks God for wisdom; -Analysing a bible quote from proverbs about the value of seeking advice; -Relating these teachings to the lives of the children - considering how they can seek support both in their learning and at break/ lunchtimes (without relying too much on their teachers/ adults!); -Singing a hymn relating to seeking support and reflecting through prayer. The session includes a comprehensive, engaging PowerPoint presentation, a hyperlink to the necessary hymn, and both a PDF and Word copy of the script for the fable. There are also various discussion prompts to enable children to consider how wisdom and seeking support can aid us throughout our lives. It was delivered as a part of a series of three worship sessions on wisdom (available as a bundle), but works equally well as a standalone worship session. This is achieved through: -Recalling the definition of wisdom and thinking about how we can show the characteristics of being wise; -Thinking about what the word ‘hazard’ means and discussing what we know about hazards; -Watching a video of a reading of Psalms 23 (hyperlinked) and discussing the literal and figurative meanings of the Lord being our ‘shepherd’ and helping us to stay safe in the face of dangers; -Relating these teachings to the modern world - discussing how we can overcome the hazards that we face in our own lives (through the ideas of preventing, avoiding and overcoming); -Singing a hymn relating to the Lord guiding us through life, before reflecting through prayer. This original and purposeful collective worship session aims to teach children about the meaning of advent. -Understanding what advent is and when it is celebrated; -Understanding different symbols and rituals of advent, for example advent wreaths and christingles, aided by an informative video; -Learning that there are different types of ‘waiting’, and that some types of waiting are more difficult than others, through an interactive task; -Understanding that Christians also view advent as a time to reflect on the ‘waiting’ of Jesus’ return; -Reflecting on what has been learnt through the session; -Ending with a prayer and a hymn about leadership. This worship is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. It is comprehensive (20 slides in total) and the slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. This fun and original collective worship session assists children in understanding the value of peace, through: Understanding what peace is, and recognising why it is important; Understanding what Christianity/ the bible teaches us about peace; Looking at examples of behaviour that is peaceful and not peaceful and considering what can be done to promote peace; Learning strategies to demonstrate peacefulness in their own lives. The session also includes an engaging bible story (shown and told on a video - included), detailing how Abigail’s peaceful outlook prevented her husband from facing a devastating conflict. Furthermore, there are interesting scenarios (with scripts provided) that enable children to consider how to act peacefully in different situations. Various discussion prompts are also presented, to enable children to understand how peace can be a force for good in their own lives. This fun and original collective worship session aids children in being thankful to God for what they have in their lives, through: Understanding what thankfulness is, and recognising why it is important; Learning the importance of thankfulness in a Christian context, through appreciating what God has done for us all, and through close reading of bible verses; Considering the positive aspects of their own lives, and considering those less fortunate than themselves; Learning strategies to demonstrate thankfulness in their own lives. This session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The session also includes an interesting bible story, detailing one man’s thankfulness after being healed by Jesus, entitled ‘The Man that Came Back.’ Furthermore, there is an internet link to a beautiful, thought-provoking video which demonstrates how far too often we spend time focused on what we don’t have, rather than the many ways in which we are fortunate. There are also various discussion prompts to enable children to understand how they can be thankful in different areas of their own lives. This fun and original collective worship session aims to guide children towards building their knowledge of Mary, mother of Jesus, through: -Gathering what they already know about Mary; -Learning about the annunciation of Mary, through reading an engaging and thought-provoking script; -Answering comprehension questions based on the ideas and events of the annunciation; -Considering Mary’s response and actions after learning that she would be the mother of Jesus; -Studying examples of Mary’s devotion and love towards Jesus, through engagement with religious artworks and Bible quotations; -Discussing the Christian values that Mary demonstrated throughout her life; -Singing a hymn about the Mother Mary (hyperlinked); -Closing with a prayer related to the Mother Mary. The session includes a 16-slide presentation, the script for the ‘anunciation’ section (in both Word and PDF) and the hyperlink to the hymn. No further resources are required, everything that you need to present the assembly is included. This assembly was originally delivered to all of the children in a primary school (KS1 and KS2), although with suitable adaptations it could also be suitable for students in KS3.

This purposeful and original collective worship session aims to assist children in understanding the value of effective teamwork, through: -Understanding what teamwork is and recognising why it is important (with the help of a funny, purposeful video, which is hyperlinked into the presentation); -Learning what the Bible teaches about teamwork, and how we can apply these ideas to our own lives; -Looking at everyday activities and considering which require effective teamwork skills; -Demonstrating the power of teamwork through an engaging and powerful ‘hula hoop challenge’ game; -Understanding how and why teamwork can be important in school, and thinking about how they would use teamwork in different scenarios; -Finding out about how teamwork has contributed to some of humankind’s greatest achievements; -Ending with a prayer and a song about using our individual talents as a part of a team. The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey: -Knowledge recall - gauging children’s prior knowledge of Judaism - including Jewish persecution in Egypt and Moses’ early life; -Reading the story of Moses and the Burning Bush - pausing for reflective thought by engaging with the embedded questions; -Considering the deeper meanings and morals of the story - including Moses’ killing of the Egyptian and his worries about leading the Israelites; -Considering their own attitudes towards the events and characters in the story; -Comparing Moses’ turning point with turning points from other religions; -Thinking of how turning points in their own lives have affected them; -Completing a plenary to assess their understanding. Students learn about the key purpose of the features, and where they can be found in the church. Students also begin to comprehend what the features symbolise. This resource pack contains a comprehensive 16-slide Powerpoint, alongside an eye-catching worksheet. Two extension activities are provided in order to challenge higher ability learners.
